The Metropolitan Building is many different spaces – and many different moods. One is a dramatic, light-filled expanse on the top floor: nine thousand square foot with 14 foot ceilings. Up to 300 people can be invited for an elegant dinner, and plenty more for a party. It has served as the set piece for movies and photo shoots. And celebrations of every kind are a little more special in this dramatic space.
Another space feels like a private mansion, lending itself to different kinds of events: for groups of up to one hundred guests. A reception hall with bar leads through arched doorways to a tall windowed room for dining or dancing, or to an intimate piano bar, or to a library that could accommodate a jazz combo or chamber group. And everywhere there are antique couches, cozy armchairs and low lighting, inviting conversation and romance.
If you are entertaining fewer than 50 people, there is a mirrored salon with gorgeous views of the lights of Manhattan. Featuring small tables and elegant chairs, this is the perfect place for cocktails, or brunch, or a distinctive dinner party.
